566 A Guide for Designing and Implementing Arc Flash Mitigation

Instructor: H. Landis Floyd, II, P.E., CSP, DuPont, Wilmington, DE

Description: Increased awareness of arc flash hazards in the workplace is largely attributed to the evolution and publicity associated with NFPA70E, Standard for Electrical Safety in the Workplace. NFPA70E addresses administrative and PPE hazard control measures, but does not provide guidance in engineering control measures. To design a comprehensive arc flash hazards mitigation program, the safety professional must look beyond NFPA70E to safety management systems standards such as ANSI Z10. This presentation provides a roadmap for safety professionals to help plan, design and implement a comprehensive and effective arc flash hazards mitigation program, from initial assessment to program audit.
