684 An Overview of the Federal Permit-Required Confined Space Standard

Instructor: Michael Taylor, J.D., Arent Fox LLP, Washington, DC

Description: Year after year, the Permit-Required Confined Space (PRCS) standard, 29 C.F.R. § 1910.147, is one of the most frequently cited federal OSHA standards. One of the reasons for this statistic is that many safety professionals have difficulty determining the requirements of the PRCS standard and therefore have difficulty developing, documenting, and implementing programs and procedures that are in compliance with the PRCS standard. This session will set forth the key requirements of the PRCS standard by examining the relevant text, legislative history, OSHA interpretations and federal case law.
